Mikrobitti ITG Dance competition

In The Groove is a Play station 2, PC or Arcade game, in which the player needs to dance on a special mat according to the symbols falling down on the screen. As the player progresses, the speed increases and the moves become more difficult. For more information, please visit http://www.itgfreak.com/whatisitg.php

General rules

  • The competition will be held using In The Groove multiplayer dancing game and Impact dancing pads (with arcade modifications). The song list will be the official ITG PC version song list.
  • There is room for 50 participants. Sign-up for the compo by using Peliliiga's system during the event on Thursday and Friday.
  • Practicing the randomly selected songs before your performance is punishable by disqualification!
  • Come to the "Lapin Kulta" terrace on Friday at 20:00
  • Remember to read sign-up instructions

How we play

  • The competition will follow the standard double-elimination tournament system. For more information, please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-elimination_tournament
  • All rounds will be played by 2-8 players simultaneously using a brand new multiplayer system. A must see event!
  • Even though there will be 2-8 players playing simultaneously, you are still competing against your own duel partner according to the bracket system. Other players' scores will not affect your qualifying chances

Rules in qualification rounds

  • The difficulty level of the songs will be selected by the compo organizer
  • When there are winner and loser brackets playing during the same round, the randomized songs will be different for the winner and loser groups
  • Scores are calculated by adding percentages together
  • The only modifiers allowed will be speed modifiers selected by the compo organizer so that the approximate BPM will be 400
  • All settings, except overhead, will be the default settings of ITG2.0
  • All songs will be randomly selected
  • If you failed your song, you will be awarded 0 % from that song
  • Each randomly selected song will be allotted at the party place in the beginning of each round

Seeding round

  • The first round will be a seeding round. Everyone will play three randomly selected songs, which will divide the competitors into the bracket system.
  • Percentages of the three songs will be added together and the 16 best will be qualified

Round 1

  • There will be eight players playing simultaneously in two groups (16 players).
  • One group plays three songs in a row following the second group. After that, the first group continues and so on
  • One group plays three songs two times totaling six songs per player
  • Your score of the six songs will be added and compared to your opponent. The player with the higher score qualifies

Round 2

  • A group of eight players will consist of the qualified winners and the other group of the eight losers
  • Players will play two times three songs

Round 3

  • A group of four winners and a group of eight losers of previous round
  • Players will play two times three songs

Round 4

  • A group of four losers
  • Players will play two times three songs
  • A break after three songs will be held

Round 5

  • A group of four losers
  • Players will play two times three songs
  • A break after three songs will be held

Semi-final

  • The group of two winners will play first and the group of two losers after them
  • The duel is held using best of three format
  • Two self selected songs are played by both players and, if necessary, a randomly selected song. The self selected songs are played on the difficulty setting that the player selecting the song chooses
  • Player ranked higher in seeding can choose between selecting the playing order or the pad. The other player will naturally select from the other choice. Choosing the playing order means that the player can choose who selects the self-selected song first. Choosing the pad allows to choose whether to play on the left or the right side.
  • If after two songs the situation is a tie, a randomly selected song will be played. The difficulty setting of the randomly selected song will be chosen by the player who wants the harder setting.
  • If both players fail the same song (self selected or random), the song will be played again with a lower difficulty setting.
  • A small break will be held after the loser group
  • After the break, the loser of the winner group will play against the winner of the loser group
  • Allowed mods are the ones that the game doesn’t disqualify. Allowed mods are Overhead, Hallway, Distant, Incoming, Space, Metal, Cell, Flat Robot, Vivid, Reverse, Split Alternate, Cross, Centred, Accel, Decel, Wave, Expand, Boomerang, Bumpy, Drift, Dizzy, Mini, Flip, Tornado, Float, Beat, Fade In, Fade Out, Blink, Invisible, Hide Targets, Hide Judgment
  • Forbidden mods are No Mines, No Holds, Simple, No Rolls, No Hands, No Jumps, No Stretch Jumps, Mirror, Left, Right, Random, Blender, Stream, Quick, Skippy, Echo, Wide, Stomp, Planted, Floored, Twister, Add Mines, Hide Background
  • Speedmods are allowed apart from C-mods in songs, that have BPM changes or stops
