Following competitions are available for the desktop platform:
You may target your production for the PC or bring any other device within the same performance range. Information about the specific computing platform will be shown on the big screen.
PC
The competition machine will be a high-end PC with a powerful graphics card and a total budget of one thousand euros (not including keyboard, mouse or display).
- A Fast dualcore CPU
- 2 GB of RAM
- One of the competition machines will have a high end ATI Radeon display adapter (tentative: X1950 XTX 512 MB), and the other is equipped with a high end nVidia GeForce (tentative: 8800 GTS 640 MB). Your production MUST work on both computers but you can request the entry to be recorded on specific platform. Should you wish to use this option please include a file called JURY.txt with your entry. It is possible to test your demo on the competition machine before the deadline – go to the Infodesk and ask for CompoCrew.
- DirectX 9 compatible sound device
- The entry must support either 800x600, 1024x768 or 1280x720p60 resolutions.
- It is highly recommended to have the entry to support 1280x720p60 resolution. This is to increase the image quality on the big screen and to move the demoscene to HDTV era.
- It is recommended to have the entry to support following 4:3 and 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios and resolutions:
- 1024x768 pixels (4:3 screen aspect ratio)

- 1280x800 pixels (16:10 screen aspect ratio)
Operating system is Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. The setup includes latest stable versions (as they are available two weeks prior start of the event) for:
- DirectX end user runtime (DirectX 9.0c)
- Stable display drivers from ATI / nVidia
- Java and Microsoft .NET runtime environments
- Macromedia Flash (version 9.0.60.120) and Shockwave player plug-ins

You may assume that Visual Studio runtime libraries (msvcr70.dll, msvcr71.dll and msvcr80.dll) and DirectX DLLs (d3dx9_24.dll to d3dx9_33.dll) are available.
xbox 360 XNA Framework
ASSEMBLY and Microsoft are together organizing a xbox 360 compo for demos, intros and games developed for the XNA framework with XNA Game Studio Express. The best entry created with XNA will receive a special prize!
The following rules apply for the submitted XNA entries:

- Both the xbox360 binary and the Windows binary, if available, will be distributed along with the video recorded with the xbox360.
