Oldskool platforms

Following competitions are available for the Oldskool platform: Oldskool demo, Oldskool graphics, and Oldskool music.
All platforms commercially available prior to the year 1992 are accepted to the compo. Possible platforms include e.g.
- Commodore 64
- PCs up to PC/386 (e.g. 80386/33MHz)
- Amiga 500 (e.g. with 512kB memory expansion)
- Atari ST
- VIC20
- MSX compatibles (e.g. MSX1 (VDP1, PSG, 64k RAM))
- Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
- Sega MegaDrive, Sega MegaDrive II
- Sinclair Spectrum
Supported platforms
We will provide VIC20, C64 and A500. C64 comes with Retro Replay cartridge and a 1541-II floppy drive (PAL). The SID will be 6581/8580.
Bringing your own device
If your entry requires a device not listed above in supported platforms, you have to bring the computer with you. We expect you to bring such hardware to the party place, attend the competition juries and the recording of qualified entries. Please contact us in advance for detailed instructions.
Protracker modules
We allow Protracker MODs in Oldskool music competition. Rules for the MOD entries are:
- Only ProTracker MOD formats are accepted. Absolutely no ITs, XMs, or anything else than MODs.
- Maximum amount of channels is 4.
- Maximum file size is 64 kB (65536 bytes) in playable, uncompressed form.
- All tunes will be played with latest version of ModPlug Player with the default settings.
Emulator issues
Entries in the oldskool competitions must run on REAL hardware. You may use emulators to aid the development process, but in the competition you must be able to run it on the machine itself.
Below is a brief list of emulators for those of us who don't have all the platforms easily available for viewing the entries.
