Introduction to ASSEMBLY Organizing

The ASSEMBLY events are organized by ASSEMBLY Organizing, which is a community of over 200 volunteers with a passion for arranging this unique event in Finland. ASSEMBLY Organizing is incorporated as a company in Finland to provide a solid financial basis for the events and a reliable partner for our sponsors.

The community originates from year 1992 when the first ASSEMBLY event was held. Back then the party was organized by a number of demogroups (most notably Rebels, Complex and Future Crew) and individual members of those teams had different responsibilities such as organizing graphic compos and taking care of the cafeteria. For number of year the tradition of organizing the event as joint effort of different demo groups continued. It became apparent over the first years, that some members of the teams were very active in organizing the event, while other members concentrated more on creating great demos. At the same time people without any demogroup affiliation became an important part of the organizing team. As the team grew it needed an identify of its own. Together these people became what is now known as ASSEMBLY Organizing.

In 1995 the organizing team consisted of around 60-80 persons, while today ASSEMBLY Organizing has over 200 volunteers working throughout the year to make the annual ASSEMBLY events happen. Today's organizing team is composed of talented and very motivated individuals from considerably different backgrounds. For some members of ASSEMBLY Organizing (or ASMORG, as the team is often referred to in short hand) the event has been their first ever contact with the demo scene and demo parties while others have contributed for years to the demo scene. For example, quite a few of the over 60 person-strong AssemblyTV team have very strong competencies in film, audio and video production as well as in acting and in journalism.

ASMORG is a community, which demands quite a lot of time from its members, but at the same time offers a great opportunity to take part in organizing an unique event. Participation in ASSEMBLY Organizing is an opportunity to learn organizing, project management and production skills, to hone one's interpersonal and team member competencies and to develop expertises in the areas of e.g. programming, audio and video production, very advanced and large-scale computer networking among others. Being part of the ASSEMBLY team requires commitment, but we can assure you that it gives at least twice as much back as it takes!

Due to the increasing financial stakes involved in organizing ASSEMBLY, ASSEMBLY Organizing was incorporated as a company in the year 1995. The events are organized by Scenera Oy, and ASSEMBLY Organizing is the company's registered trading name.

ASSEMBLY Organizing is a not-for-profit company and is supported by Opetusministeriö. ASSEMBLY Organizing donates its profits as prizes for the ASSEMBLY events as well as to supporting to demo scene related activities.

We have been organizing ASSEMBLY since the year 1992 ! Back in the early '90s nobody dared to hope that the ASSEMBLY would become such a long-running success when the first party was held. The credit for the ASSEMBLY of today belongs to all of the over five hundred organizers, who over the years have put their hearts and souls into doing their very best to make sure that each ASSEMBLY will always be an event to be remembered.
