ASSEMBLY Summer '08 is over. See you at Winter '09!
Compo Rules Changes 2007 - 2008
The following changes were made to the competition rules between Assembly Summer 2007 and Assembly Summer 2008:
Change Batch #3
- None of the compos have the one entry per author limitation
Change Batch #2
- Oldskool music and graphics competitions are extended in platforms to get executable music and graphics from modern computers to the same competition. Result: Extreme Music and Extreme Graphics competitions.
- The MPEG4 containers in video formats were extended and the codec instructions updated to CCCP
- The graphics compo resolution was changed to 1280x720 as our big screen and video projector will be in 16:9.
Change Batch #1
- Desktop compo machine specs were updated: 4G memory, new graphics adapter, both XP and Vista
- Real Wild demo competition combines the Mobile demo competition, Browser demo compo and anything you can imagine that does not fit to the Desktop hardware or Oldskool hardware specs. The entries are submitted in video format + executable for distribution, but you need to prove your demo really runs on the platform.
- The Instrumental and Freestyle music competitions were merged to a single Music competition. Instead of having two different competition categories, the jury will select the entries to the screen to guarantee the diversity of the entries in the compo from all of the genres.
- Similarly, the Drawn themed graphics and Freestyle graphics were merged to a single Graphics competition. Again, the jury will promote both styles of entries to the screen and the audience will select their favorite entries.
- The Video format for the Short Film, Real Wild demo, and Game Development competitions have been updated to modern MPEG4 variants and widescreen (16:9) and HD support.
