Desert Planet

DESERT PLANET LIVE on Friday 1.8. at 22:30

Desert Planet are creating electronic music in the spirit of 80's video games. The style is not pure chiptunes or minimal 8-bit music - It is more like electronic dance music with inluences from 80's game consoles and computers like Nintendo Entertainment System, Commodore 64 and Amiga. Since 1999 the Finnish game-electro -scene pioneers have released 5 cd-albums, many music videos, an USB-memory stick release and a short film - some of them are published also in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and USA. They have a cult following around the world - the web relases of their funny music videos are very popular. Lately the band has got inspiration from toy-synths, electropunk and "circuit bending" -style electronic noises.

Desert Planet have been touring in Central Europe, Russia, France and Finland. Live shows are fun space trips with self-made spacesuits and green helmets with colourful video projections. The musicians Jukka Tarkiainen and Jari Mikkola used to play in rockbands and they are not just twisting knobs like most electronic live-acts - these spacemen are rocking! Awesome pixelled video projections are presented by VJ Antti Hovila.

"This is music for the arcade game generation."
Björn Lynne, demoscene godfather, producer ( Norway/UK)

"Known in the Micromusic/Chiptunes scene for their brilliant music and their marvellous live shows, Desert Planet bridges between different art forms and genres"
