OMEN by HP: Overwatch Tournament

Overwatch returns to Assembly Winter from February 2-3, 2018 with OMEN by HP: Overwatch Tournament, featuring four Finnish teams and a prize pool of €10,000.

Last year, Assembly welcomed Overwatch to the biggest computer festivals in Finland, setting a stage for the fast-paced team game in 2017’s Winter and Summer events. The Finnish scene has since really embraced Overwatch with new teams and events popping up throughout the year. Going into 2018, Assembly wants to keep the momentum going and once again bring Overwatch in front of the biggest esports crowds Finland has to offer. Together with HP we are proud to announce OMEN by HP: Overwatch Tournament at Assembly Winter 2018 from February 2-3.

The upcoming year of 2018 is going to be a treat for Overwatch fans as Blizzard launches the highly anticipated Overwatch League, featuring the best players in the world. The international playing field will also see the return of Overwatch Contenders and the introduction of Overwatch Open Division, which provides a path for up-and-coming players to reach the big leagues. Assembly wants to be a part of the road to international stardom by strengthening the local scene and offering a platform for Finnish players to gain valuable LAN experience and show off their skills on a grander stage.

OMEN by HP: Overwatch Tournament at Assembly Winter 2018 will feature four Finnish teams competing for a prize purse of €10,000 over the course of two days. The teams will match against each other in a double-elimination format with best-of-five matches. Each game will be played on a dedicated stage in front of a live audience and streamed online with professional tournament production.

The tournament will consist of four teams with two invited and two spots up for grabs in open qualifiers for all Finnish teams—see qualifier details below. Finland’s top two Overwatch sqauds have already been selected as the invited teams: Team Gigantti and ENCE eSports. Gigantti is the current Contenders Europe champion, while ENCE was the winner of the Finnish championship of 2017. It is a pleasure to see these two face off once again when the stakes are high.

All the games will be streamed live in English and Finnish. Tune in or join the crowd at the venue from February 2-3 to witness who will lift Finland’s first Overwatch trophy of 2018.
